A Refreshing Summer Smoothie Recipe: Raspberry Vanilla

Ready for another delicious smoothie recipe? There’s nothing like a smoothie to nudge you in the direction of healthy eating. And if you’re trying to lose weight, a healthy weight loss diet that replaces all the flour- and sugar-laden treats with smoothies is sure to help you keep on track with your weight loss goals!

Our family? We just eat smoothies for the health of it! (Okay, and because they taste great, too. 😉 )

What follows is a perfect smoothie recipe for the summertime. Because, let’s face it, frozen berries are one of the most refreshing foods to consume on a hot day.

I said “a perfect smoothie recipe.” However, I’m actually going to lay out two of them, one that includes vanilla-flavored protein powder, and one that doesn’t. And in the first one, that includes the protein powder, if you’re vegan and want to use vanilla vegan protein powder, feel free. If I were you, though, I’d simply make the second recipe. That way you don’t end up feeling like you’re drinking crushed chalk. 😉

Raspberry-Vanilla Smoothie, Recipe #1

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup liquid (water or milk, dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 frozen banana, cut into pieces or sliced
  • ¼ cup almonds or cashews if water is the liquid base (omit if you’re trying to lose weight)
  • 1 scoop vanilla-flavored protein powder

(I recommend the Naked Whey brand, because they’re the only brand I know of that number one, sources all of its whey from grass-fed cows, and number two, adds the least number of ingredients possible to their flavored protein powders.)

DIRECTIONS

#1. Pour the liquid into the blender container.

#2. Add the rest of the ingredients to the container.

#3. Blend on high.

#4. Pour into a large glass or pint jar, and drink slowly so your body has a chance to assimilate as much of the nutrition as possible.

Raspberry-Vanilla Smoothie, Recipe #2

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup water or milk, dairy or non-dairy
  • 2 frozen bananas, cut into pieces or sliced
  • 1 cup frozen raspberries
  • ¼ cup cashews or almonds, optional
  • 1 teaspoon non-alcohol vanilla flavoring

DIRECTIONS

#1. Pour the liquid into the blender container.

#2. Add the rest of the ingredients to the container.

#3. Blend on high.

#4. Pour into a large glass or pint jar, and drink slowly so your body has a chance to assimilate as much of the nutrition as possible.

Feel free to experiment with different berries. That’s the great thing about smoothies – there are so many possible flavor combinations that you can’t possibly get bored with eating them!

Bon appétit!
