Simple living means different things to different people, from minimalism to homesteading to living beneath one’s means. But I think we can all agree that it the essence of it has to do with freedom: financial freedom, freedom from the artificial need for material goods, freedom to work and play that comes from having excellent health, and freedom to live out our respective purposes.
Actually, that last freedom encompasses all the rest. If you are sick, in bondage to “stuff”, or in debt, you will struggle with doing what you feel called to do. And you will never come close to fulfilling your potential.
The first step in simple living is focusing on who you are and what you want to do. When you do that, and refuse to get distracted, life becomes much simpler than it has ever been.
The blog posts in this category focus on health, minimalizing, homesteading, and finding joy and fulfillment in the little things of life. While personal finance issues and how to get started with your own micro-business could fit in with this category, I wanted to narrow my categories down a bit, and so those issues are covered in my “Wealth” category.
