Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it was a snap to make money online. Just set up a website and figure out how to monetize it, and the money would roll in. Why? There were relatively few websites, and therefore relatively few competitors in any particular niche.
Fast forward to today. Every profitable niche is saturated with blogs and websites. The competition in the online business world is definitely much greater than before. A would-be Internet Marketer has to spend a lot more time actively marketing than she would have needed to ten years ago. So, is it still worth it? Can the average Jill still make money online?
Time is on your side
The good news is, most people who start a blog, hoping to profit from it, quit in less than a year. That means the competition isn’t quite as fierce as you may believe.
The bad news is, most people who start a blog, hoping to profit from it, quit in less than a year. That means you have a good chance of joining that discouraging statistic.
However, if you are willing to stick with it for the long haul, and give yourself two to three years to see a profit, and another year or so to start to see a nice monthly income, you have a good chance of being one of the make-money-online success stories.
But if you have to spend more time marketing, will it bring you the time freedom you want?
Most people who make close to, and over, six-figure annual incomes via Internet Marketing spend three to four hours a day working. A few spend more time…and probably make more money. Or they’re a lot more meticulous about responding to e-mails and social media posts than they may need to be.
Hmmm…a forty-plus hour work week on a job as an employee, or a twenty-hour work week with completely flexible hours and no boss looking over your shoulder. Which sounds better to you?
The keys to success in making money online
There are two major factors that will determine whether you succeed running an online business. The first, as mentioned earlier, is how committed you are to sticking out the rough beginnings. Because the competition is much greater now, it takes more time for an online business owner to develop a platform and grow a following.
Get a kickstart in both from one of the pioneers in Internet Marketing, Jimmy Brown. First, this FREE PDF gives you a sneak peek into how Jimmy Brown has become so successful…working only three hours per day.
The cool thing is, if you can stay away from all the expensive “systems” that promise the moon but never deliver, working an Internet business does not involve a whole lot of overhead. Unlike with a brick-and-mortar business, or one that requires you to purchase tons of inventory ahead of time, you won’t go broke waiting to break a profit.
The second factor in succeeding in Internet Marketing is the second word in that phrase: marketing. If you want to make money online, you will have to put yourself out on various social media sites, have a blog, and perhaps submit articles to article directories. You will need to guest-post on other blogs in your niche, and have an e-mail subscriber list whom you regularly contact.
You have to do some sort of marketing, and do it every day.
Can you make money online? Absolutely! You just have to decide you’re going to do what it takes.
To your success!
