One of the biggest reasons I, last spring, resisted the plan to have an earth-sheltered house built was that I just didn’t want to spend the money.
All the while, a few things were driving me crazy about life in a tiny house. One issue that just wouldn’t go away was the cluttered, cramped condition of the storage shed. It was so stuffed that there was no room for the larger tools like shovels, axes and post-holed diggers. Everything like that had to be stored underneath the shed.
And every time I went into the storage shed to get something, the closer to insanity I became. I hated having to dig for things, to move ten items just to get to the one I wanted (sometimes that really was the case!).
To give you an idea of what I’m talking about, I made a video of it. And not just the storage shed, but also the Tuff Shed during its last days as our tiny house and also the mess that our new house was a week or two before we moved into it.
And then, I made a video of how the three buildings look now. I want to sigh with relief just thinking about it. There is room to move inside the storage shed, and all the tools are inside where they belong. While I’m not thrilled that we had to put mine and Jerry’s bikes in the Tuff Shed, I like how that looks, as well. The loft can breathe again – it hasn’t been able to in nearly two years – and the downstairs still looks somewhat homey.
Check out the video below and judge for yourself. Before and after The Big Move. It took us about two weeks to get to the “after” (that was reorganizing the two sheds; we were moved into the house and organized in only two days).
Enjoy it and share it! 🙂
